Our Centrifugal Casting Process

The MCC International centrifugal casting process provides a lower cost method for producing high quality products.

Our unique pressure casting process consists of forcing molten metal against the mold wall under relatively high pressure and rapidly cooling the mold. This combination improves the density of the metal, increases the actual mechanical properties of the casting by 10% to 15% and provides a uniform metallurgical structure.

The casting process involves:

  • Rotating a Permanent Mold on its Vertical Axis at High Speeds (generates 50x-100x g-force)
  • Pouring the Molten Metal Into the Mold (molten metal is centrifugally forced toward the inside mold wall)
  • Cooling of the Mold with Water, Resulting in “Directional Solidification” from Outside to Inside

Centrifugal casting offers numerous benefits compared to static casting. They include:

  • Minimization of Defects (Shrinkage, Voids, Gas Entrapment)
  • Superior (Finer) Grain Structure
  • Higher Mechanical Properties (Strength, Ductility, Toughness)
  • Directional Solidification that Minimizes Impurities

Our unique centrifugal casting process is a cost-effective way to manufacture an extensive array of quality ferrous and non-ferrous products, including:

  • Bearing Parts
  • Bi-Metallic Rings
  • Bushings
  • Gear Blanks
  • Nuts
  • Rolling Mill Sleeves
  • Valve Bodies

When parts or components need to meet exacting specifications and tight delivery schedules, MCC has the engineering expertise and manufacturing skills to meet your needs.

Machining Capabilities

CNC, Wire EDM & More

MCC's extensive machine shop has the capability to rough machine castings on Conventional Boring mills up to 99 inches in diameter.

Our finishing capabilities, with our modern CNC's enable us to machine castings up to 99 inches in diameter.

FARO Arm is a six axis portable coordinate measuring machine that allows an inspector to quickly and easily inspect parts directly on the shop oor. MCC International uses the FARO Arm to make accurate measurements of the critical dimensions of a part.

The FARO Arm allows an MCC machinist, if necessary, to inspect the part on the machine tools. It also provides inspection of parts and measurement reports to our customers and is a vital part of MCC International's quality management system.
